Server logs: 90 days. Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics. Email correspondence: 3 years. LocalStorage data is retained until you clear your browser data — it is never transmitted to us.

FreeMalta News Beast is a curated news discovery service, not a news publisher. We do not write news articles. Our editorial role consists of selecting which sources to monitor, categorising articles, and applying a heat score algorithm to surface timely content.
2. Source Selection Criteria
- Editorial standards: The source must have a publicly available editorial policy or demonstrate consistent journalistic standards
- Independence: The source must not be a purely promotional or sponsored content platform
- Reliability: The source must maintain an active, consistently updated RSS feed
- Relevance: The source must contribute meaningful coverage to one or more of our topic categories
3. Editorial Independence
- No advertiser may influence which articles are featured, suppressed, or promoted
- No advertiser may influence which sources are included or excluded
- No advertiser may influence the categorisation of stories
- The Puttinu Cares badge is displayed as a community service, not a paid placement
4. Heat Scoring Algorithm
Our heat score (0–100) determines article prominence based on recency (decays over 24h), breaking keyword detection, AI/tech topic signals, and Malta relevance boost. Score cap: 100. A high heat score means a story is recent — it does not imply editorial endorsement.
5. Corrections and Removals
We do not publish original content and therefore do not issue corrections in the traditional sense. If you believe a link on News Beast is to demonstrably false content, hate speech, or illegal material, contact us at hello@freemalta.com.
